Araks Yeramyan is the founder and creative director of the eponymous label Araks, which puts beautiful colours and flattering cuts at the forefront of the business, and has been making sustainable lingerie since before it was a thing.
Musing on Sensuality is an Underlena series where we sit down with people who inspire sensuality, and talk about how they cultivate it in their life and work.

What does sensuality mean to you? What does it feel like?
For me, sensuality means paying attention to one’s senses. It feels warm, calm, slow and intentional.
Do you have any practices that help you cultivate sensuality on a daily basis?
A short meditation at any point in my day, telling myself to slow down, be aware and present.
How does this influence how you design your collections?
It brings intention to the forefront. Of course, I find colour to be very sensual and that is always our starting point. We spend a lot of time here putting different palettes together and exploring how they affect us in different ways.
How do you want people to feel when they wear your pieces?
My aim is to create lingerie for women to enjoy, something they love wearing for themselves–pieces that have them feeling beautiful, strong, and empowered how they naturally are. I hope people see Araks as an everyday luxury that they can fit into their life and adapt into their own style.
Does sensuality inform sustainable production for your business?
Yes, creating environmentally conscious pieces that last season after season is very intentional for us and thus carries with it an aspect of sensuality.
